More about RUDDOCK garden design...

RUDDOCK garden shape by Stalen Design is a stylish addition to your outdoor space. This decorative garden shape, also known as tree decoration, bird silhouette, garden ornament or outdoor wall figure, shows two graceful birds on a branch and is entirely designed and produced in the Netherlands.

The object is laser-cut from 3 mm thick Corten steel – a weather-resistant type of steel that develops a warm, rust-colored patina through natural oxidation. This gives it a robust, durable, and maintenance-free appearance. The shape has a width of 30.5 cm (including pin), a height of 13.8 cm, and a decorative section that is 25.8 cm wide.

Installation is simple: Start by pre-drilling the wood and then place the garden shape using the integrated metal pin. Use a hammer for this. This does not cause permanent damage to the tree and is a tree-friendly mounting method.

Please note: the product features a sharp metal point (the mounting pin).

CORTEN STEEL

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
