The THUNDER Bird Feeder by Stalen Design is a sleekly designed and functional bird feeder, also known as a wall-mounted feeder, feeding station, bird feeding spot, wall bird house or feeding table for garden birds. This modern and robust design object is entirely designed and manufactured in the Netherlands, with an emphasis on sustainability, simplicity, and aesthetics.

The THUNDER model is designed as a wall-mounted unit and is securely attached to a wall, fence, or facade. The structure is crafted from 1.5 mm thick Corten steel – a weather-resistant type of steel that develops a warm, rust-colored patina over time. This protective layer ensures a natural appearance and long-lasting protection against the elements.

For added comfort, the bird feeder features a wooden perch with a diameter of 16 mm, where birds can land safely. Installation is simple thanks to the included stainless steel screws and plugs, allowing you to mount the bird feeder immediately.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
